Winter’s Rest

Pouting shadows lunge across
The shivering green as
The sun fizzles out behind
Nature’s smouldering breasts.

Slipping into a snooze,
The green joins the beckoning blue
As it streams its moist stretch
Down the breasts.

And above, scores of eyes
Begin to blink into a drowsy throb,
Bobbing at winter’s pace.
